Search Engine Optimization is an area that is continually evolving so it pays to stay up to date with current Search Engine trends, and we do just that. Thankfully, the days of spammy, keyword-over-loaded content is behind us and we can’t tell you how happy that makes us. Well written content that offers value to the user is being rewarded by the major search engines in organic search results.
Definition of SEO
Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the visibility of a website or a web page in search engines via the natural or un-paid (organic or algorithmic) search results. – Wikipedia
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) combines several techniques, but predominantly it is the way your site’s content is written and organized so the search engines (Google, Bing, Yahoo) can find you. With a carefully crafted page, your visitors will enjoy quality content while allowing the web crawlers to find and index your pages. Read Google’s explanation on how content affects your search results.
Ranking well with your keywords on the major search engines (Google, Yahoo, Bing) takes time and work. It doesn’t happen overnight, it takes a while for the search engines to find and index your great content. If your website has been live for a while and you’re still on the eighth page of search results, it’s time to find out why. It’s a process, but we can help!
How do the search engines work?
Search engines crawl the Web indexing pages by the billions. When you type in a search string, the engine returns its results in order of relevance. Or what it thinks is relevant. Search engines determine relevance based on several things. Some are within our control, others simply aren’t. To add to that, the search engines are continually tweaking the algorithms they use. Just take a brief read about Google’s Panda or Penguin to find out how websites fell from page one to page none after those huge algorithm changes. Happily, the SEO work we do here doesn’t try to outfox the search engines. We call those tactics Black Hat techniques and they only work for so long before they stop working, and even worse – negatively affect your page rank. We use SEO techniques that follow guidelines set out by Google and which help your website in a number of ways in addition to page rank.
How do we help you get found
We could tell you, but then we’d have to kill ‘ya. Seriously though, we make sure your website is properly coded, mobile friendly, clearly organized and with content and relevant keywords optimized. These things all help put your website in a favourable light with the search engines. Why? Because Google in particular rewards things that make your website easier to use for site visitors!
Can you Promise I’ll be on Page One Search Results?
Nope. Nobody can promise you that. We can help get you the best search results possible, but there are many variables and deciding factors and some of them are simply out of our control. We can help you develop your website content, social media and blog posts though, all of which do their part in making sure you are ranking well in the search engines. Here’s a bit of advice though; if anyone promises that they’ll get you page one rank on Google – run! Run away fast!
